Jeff Parmet

Jeff Parmet is a widely respected IT dispute resolution specialist (as well as a non-practicing attorney). Jeff serves his clients in the capacity of software failure expert, software intellectual property expert, or computer forensic and electronic discovery expert, depending on the requirements of the particular matter.

Jeff has been involved in resolving more than 75 software disputes, and has served as a computer software expert witness in critical and high-profile cases on numerous occasions. The hallmark of Jeff’s practice is independent, objective technical consulting services leading to advice and/or expert witness testimony involving information technology.

With 38 years’ experience in the IT field (including 21 with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, whose IT-dispute practice he led until his retirement from the firm in 2003), Jeff represents plaintiffs and defendants – developers and customers alike. He has been engaged as an expert in litigation in federal and state court, as well as in arbitrations and mediations. He has served as a court-appointed neutral expert and presented in numerous IT programs for lawyers.

G. Hunter Jones

Hunter Jones has an engineering background and long experience in systems design and development. As a computer software failure expert, he is intimately familiar with the “internals” of computer systems, both operating systems and application programs. His system design and development experience has covered engineering and accounting applications, as well as other functions for business and government clients.

As a certified computer forensics specialist (EnCase Certified Examiner), Hunter has established credentials in the fields of computer examination and electronic discovery. This professional certification attests to the capabilities of the EnCE, and also adds to the credibility and reliability of his reports and testimony.

As an experienced software engineer, Hunter has evaluated source code written in various languages in numerous intellectual property cases for evidence of copyright, patent infringement or trade-secret misappropriation.

Hunter’s litigation consulting and work as a computer forensics expert often fall into these areas:

  • identifying and explaining the underlying causes of software failure
  • expert interpretation of the complex issues and clarifying the highly technical documents which are inevitably involved in the claims, defenses, briefs, and testimony in such cases
  • analyzing source code in connection with patent or copyright infringement claims

J. Todd Trivett, MBA, PMP

Todd Trivett is a litigation consulting expert specializing in project management, IT systems implementation, and forensic management & data analytics. In examining mismanagement and systems failures in litigation, he draws upon his own 15 years experience managing large IT implementations for a “Big 4” consulting firm and a global systems-integration company. During his career, he has provided project management and consulting services to companies implementing large projects, as well as to parties involved in disputes and litigation involving project management and computer systems. Most recently, Todd worked with former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul A. Volcker investigating mismanagement and corruption in the United Nations’ management of the Iraq Oil-For-Food programme.

Todd is certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP©) by the Project Management Institute (PMI). He is an active member and has served on the Executive Advisory Board of PMI.

Geoff M. Maites

Geoff Maites is a computer forensics examiner (EnCase Certified Examiner), web developer and programmer with more than eight years' experience providing IT consulting services to clients in various industries. Over the past five years with Jeff Parmet and Associates, Geoff has provided analytical support in cases involving software project failure, trade secret misappropriation and software copyright infringement. He has performed detailed analysis of popular online social networking web services, including analysis of the evolution of online social network functionality, and comparison of source code and database design of competing services. Expertise areas for Geoff include: computer forensics; online social networking; HTML; JavaScript; Flash ActionScript Programming; PHP; and graphics creation and optimization. Additionally, Geoff has experience in search engine optimization, relational database design, SQL and Ruby on Rails. Prior to joining Jeff Parmet and Associates, Geoff provided consulting in all areas of web design and development.

Paul Linebaugh

Paul Linebaugh has more than 10 years’ experience in the computer field; designing, developing and supporting software, hardware and networking solutions. He has worked as a programmer, system administrator and manager. He has also worked in such diverse environments as nonprofits, government, large companies and startups. Paul has been through the full cycle of developing software products, from gathering of data involved to designing the user interface, to creating the installation program and software updates. He has also played major roles in developing web-based software: programming, networking, hardware purchases, server/firewall setup, etc. He has been certified as a Lotus Professional Application Developer and has attended numerous technical courses and conferences, including Java, Lotus Notes and Encase. Paul is currently taking the required coursework, fieldwork and examinations to become an EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE).

George P. Liu, MS, GSLC

George Liu has over fifteen years of full life cycle software development experience. From requirements analysis and design to coding and implementation, he has actively built systems on mainframes, mid-size computers, and networks of personal computers.

As a certified professional in information security, George has provided significant contributions and findings to a variety of cases. He has reviewed over 14,000 lines of operating system code for security checks and effects, identifying logic errors. George developed utilities to scan through millions of database records to discover vulnerability patterns for an agency of Department of Defense.

George has plied his software analysis and development expertise in patent infringement cases and trade secret misappropriation disputes. George identified algorithms and functions in software systems that alleged misappropriation of source code and program design. George has also worked with intellectual property attorneys in analyzing software systems that have functional characteristics of specific patent claims.
